Great archers

Only great archers are loving enough to perfect their craft– loving enough to land a solid hit on their target, leaving no chance of any slip-ups.

When they pull their bow, only great archers would angle it precisely near the crook of the nose bridge, slowly adjusting their body so that it would not just ensure a perfect hit, but also let the target savor in the anticipation before swiftly getting pierced from one end out the other.

But a great archer also knows that a perfect blow doesn’t just mean hitting the bullseye on the target.

Killing the target immediately is a crude act of carelessness– it's something that only one as desperate as a drowning man would attempt to achieve –and only a great archer knows that the craft isn’t about murder, but about self control.

On the other hand, there is an art to being a good target as well. To look into the eyes of one’s captor with doe-like innocence, knowing fully well that the other could kill them at any moment.

But only weak archers pick already willing targets those who shyly avert their gaze away, as if accepting their fate.

After all, everybody knows that great archers pick targets who fight for their life, ones who bear their eyes past an archer's bow and straight through them, as it's a matter of how an archer prepares their target before it is shot.
